I love this series. Each book is different but they're all either princesses or queens that at one point actually lived. They create a journal for the character using what they know of her. Each book is a fictional journal of a non-fictional character.
I tried reading one to my 10 year old sister she didn't quite get it. I think these are great for girls ages 13 and up. I think adults would like them as well but I can't say for sure because I'm not an adult.
They are Dear America Books. they are not write by just one person, though the people do have similar writing styles.
